Grand Traverse Motel

Husband and I stopped in Traverse City for the night, and after looking at the prices of other hotels, we settled on the Grand Traverse Motel for a more moderate deal. It was just off the edges of the lakefront, so close enough to walk but not right in the middle of the craziness (there's construction along the road there). The front desk employee was polite, and we were quickly given a room (Queen standard upstairs). The motel is older, but she has been given a lot of love and updates through the years. The room windows show their years, but the beds were clean, and the room tidy. The bathroom was also not the latest in technology, but the water was hot all through our showers, and everything worked well. Only complaint I could say I had was that due to the age of the building, you heard when your neighbors opened and closed their doors, so a few times in the night I woke up from that (the gentleman next to us had two small dogs he had to walk), but I was able to quickly get back to sleep. Overall, while the Grand Traverse Motel may not be the most modern place to stay, it retains its charm through well kept rooms and great service. We would definitely stay here again!

Great price! Everything clean and bed comfy, actually nicer than a hotel we just stayed at last weekend close by for a wedding. Friendly staff. Only complaint is the brand new smart TV not so smart. It kept switching from cable to Netflix and the only way to fix it was needing the actual TV remote which wasn't available in the room, although the owner was kind enough to come to the room and fix. Would definitely stay again.

Just stayed here for a little over a week and had a wonderful time! Like most people visiting tc in the summer, we’re not in the room that much so it’s more for sleeping but ample space, comfortable, and clean. There are a few shabby chic details like the carpet being dated but you can tell there is constant attention to each room and we had everything we needed. Full size fridge and complimentary breakfast snacks/beverages which is all we really want in the morning anyway. If you like walking places you can get downtown (little fleet) from here, to the beach (don’t forget to bring your beach towels from home, they don’t supply them here), and basically anywhere you might want to go. If you want a luxury hotel experience, go elsewhere - the price is reflected in the accommodations - but we couldn’t be happier and will certainly be back.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Full size refrigerator, microwave and single cup coffee maker. Close to multiple parks and beaches and also to multiple restaurants and other activities. Best part is they are pet friendly!

This place is old and needs a whole new update. The room was clean but smelled. We had a fan on all day and night. We were booked for 2 nights but only stayed 1 night. The place needs a complete overhaul

An absolute gem! From the moment I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly and welcoming staff. They went out of their way to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The grab and go breakfast options were particularly impressive. The room may not be the most luxurious, but it was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed. The beds were clean and comfortable. The room had plenty of storage including a full sized refrigerator. My only room complaint is that the shower did not get quite hot enough for me. The location is unbeatable, making it convenient to access all the local attractions and restaurants. If you're looking for a budget-friendly place that still offers a fantastic location, exceptional service, and a comfortable stay, I highly recommend this hidden gem of a motel. I'd gladly return for another stay!

It's a very nice little place to stay, our new go to place in Traverse and we've stayed in all of them. Lots of amenities, full size Fridge, Microwave and Coffee maker with Coffee, WIFI and Smart TV, which most places do not have. It's not fancy and new but it's very clean and affordable, you will not be disappointed! I also like the fact you can park your car right outside your room which makes loading and unloading very easy. My wife and I both thought the beds were excellent, there's also a reclining chair that was a very nice surprise.
